Portfolio > Demo Old WWTF Camp Shelby
Camp Shelby's 10 MGD activated sludge wastewater treatment facility (permit
MS0024996) was constructed in the 1940's for a consistent population of 100,000 people. The reality of today's Camp Shelby is a widely varying population based upon training and mobilization needs. A lagoon system better able to handle these changes has been constructed and is now fully operational (permit MS0059838). Permit requirements dictate a closure plan is required prior to decommissioning the old treatment facility. In general, all unused facilities will be razed at-grade and filled with earth and demolition spoils. Recycling of old equipment and concrete will occur to the maximum extent possible. The site will be regraded, seeded and maintained as greenspace after demolition has been completed. Lang Engineering has completed all design, plan & specifications production and permitting for this project. Construction will begin following the completion of the construction of a new sanitary treatment office for employees currently still using facilities at this one.
